Running the land, Saskatoon

2017 summer intensive

On her homage to the Nishiyuu walkers, Ayumi Goto has run many roads toward the close to 1600 km that mirrors those who went from northern Quebec to Ottawa to air out important issues affecting indigenous communities. One of these roads was a rural highway outside of Saskatoon — this is just a short 3-min clip of more than 2.5 hours of recording from a GoProp camera strapped to her music belt that morning. About halfway through the clip, Ayumi comes across a road-killed deer carcass, so she shares her moments with that passed creature on the land, and then continues on her journey. A poignant reminder of life and beyond on this land.
